예전에 Speechless 라는 영화를 보고 놀랐던 기억이 나는데, 평범한 스크류볼 코미디임에도 불구하고, 두 남녀 주인공은 영화 속에서 사랑한다는 말을 딱 한번 한다 - 영화의 거의 마지막에.
하긴, 놀랄 일은 아닌 듯도 하다 - 요즘 세상은 물질이든 감정이든 어느 정도 과잉되어 있다고 생각하고 있으니 그게 오히려 적절한 건지도 모르지.
Gerry가 예전에 이런 이야기를 했었다. '스스로 확신하지 못하는데, 누구에게 확신을 줄 수 있겠는가.' 불확 실한 시대에 살고 있고, 상황이든 상대에 대한 감정이든 변화하고 있는 자신이 어색해도, 그런 자신에게 조금만 더 확신을 가지고 행동해야 앞으로 나아갈 수 있는 거겠지.

마치 올림픽 구호처럼 '더 높게 더 멀리' 노래를 부를 수 있는 여성 가수들 - Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston 등의 가수들이 팝시장에서 모두 고전하고 있는데, Deborah Cox도 예외가 아닌 듯 하다.
