사실 Beatles를 새삼스레 말해서 뭐하겠습니까.
아, 그래도 여러 팝 컬럼니스트들이나 기자들, 그리고 그들의 친지들은
꾸준히 그들의 알려지지 않은 것들을 발굴해내서 상품화하고 있습니다.

Beatles의 음악은 참 많기도 많아서
듣다 보면 오히려 귀에 잘 들어오지 않는 경우가 있습니다.
오히려 다른 가수들이 리메이크를 하거나 영화에 삽입되거나 하면
'아, 그래... 그런 곡이 있었지.' 싶을 때가 많지요.

Moulin Rouge (물랑루즈)에서
Christian (Ewan McGregor 분)과 Satine (Nicole Kidman 분)이 노래를 부르기 시작할 때
이 노래 후렴구를 잠깐 부르고 시작하죠.
Satine이 'Love is just a game'이라고 재치있게 응수하는 것도 재밌어요.
('Love is just an easy game to play'라고 하면 너무 길어서?)
이 부분은 굉장히 짧은 부분인데 이상하게 머리 속에 남더라구요.
그러더니 Love Actually에서 웨딩싱어가 이 노래를 부르더군요.
찾아보면 여러 영화에 나왔을지도 모르겠네요.

• 아, Yellow Submarine에서도 나왔군요.

요즘 이 노래가 자꾸 흥얼거려지더라구요.
사람들을 만나다 보면 여러가지 이유로 힘들어하기도 하는데
그럴 때마다 생각이 났기 때문인 것 같아요.

뭐랄까, love라는 게 꼭 이성간의 사랑만이 아니라
자기 자신에 대한 애정일 수도 있고,
일에 대한 열정일 수도 있고,
관계에 대한 욕심일 수도 있을텐데
그것들을 통틀어 love라고 부를 수 있을 것 같았거든요.
